Reminds me when I was a kid the engine on my motorcycle the throttle got stuck fully open and the only way to shut it down was by pulling the spark plug wire off, at least that is what I thought back then. I now know I could have flipped to choke fully on to kill the engine.
After pulling the spark plug wire was the beginning of one of life’s many lessons
What I learned is that you become paralysed and can not let go and it seemed that it took forever for the engine to come to rest.
Flywheels store kinetic energy, this energy is used to keep the engine revolving during its dead cycles. A single cylinder engine requires a heavier flywheel than say a twin or four cylinder engine would.
The dead cycles on a four stroke engine that utilise that kinetic energy stored in the flywheel are, intake stroke , compression stroke and exhaust stroke, the power stoke the one that creates the energy derived from fossil fuel..
