That's what I like about
scrap metal. Its ca$h in the hand and you know before you are going to get about X$ for it.
Anything else you sell is a hard sell and you don't know what you may get, a small fraction of what its worth normally.
And it still has a use for you.
While scrap metal, its a set price you can figure out beforehand and scrapmetals got no use to you in the real world.
It either does one of four or more things.
You are saving up for something you wouldn't normally be able to get, so you have a 'target amount' of metal that you need to get to, swap that for ca$h and buy what you want to.
It pays some of your bills and evens out the highs of the bills and the lows of your income.
Or, it means that for a while you do not have to put your hand into your pocket and pay bills out of wages etc.
Or, you like what you are doing anyway, and it pays the bills....
Me? This week I am buying two pairs of boots, a 'dress pair' for general use and a 'work pair' for, well work...
My current ones are looking 'scrappy' and I'd like to have something new to wear when I want.
And I already have a pair of new work boots with steel caps,
and a older pair that need regluing together, suitable for dirty work and off road motorbiking.
My current pair are 'knockabout boots', light for general use around the house. Got paint splatters on them. Worn.
I brought the lot of them with scrap metal money...... :-)
