Built me a website - tell me what you think

I have been in the startup stage of a formal business since late December. Finally got my logo the other day and had time this morning to put a website together. Let me know what you guys think and of you have any suggestions. Any constructive criticism is welcome. But be gentle. I've never built a site before. Lol.

Perhaps because of my age and eyesight but I would prefer bolder type. Mike

I do think there needs to be a little bit more color contrast between the font and the background but the site content looks good!!

Where you say you accept fixtures, you might want to exclude toilets, acrylic tubs and shower stalls.

Always talk yourself up. It looks like you did that pretty well.

You likely can't right now, but as you get going, I'd recommend taking some photos and putting them in. Good photos make a site complete.

I agree with miked there should be some colour contrast, also include your brick and mortar place of business with a civic address so people know what areas you service along with a land line.

Under your heading protecting your Data, sounds to me chain of custody is missing from your customer to the R2 certified destruction site which is not you but a third party service. If your bonded you could certify chain of custody assuring the service you provide is secure.

You have a nice, clean looking page, but your font should be a little bigger and black instead of grey. You should also come up with a bit more content for your home page, and a few pictures. People need to see the page and then be interested enough in clicking on the other sections of the site.

And most importantly, invest some time in learning about Search Engine Optimization if you have not already. You can have the best web site in the world, but people have to be able to find it.

Good job with the site, it is an important first step in this business.

Thanks for the input guys. I will definitely work on all this. It's nice to get some input from somebody other than the wife. Lol. I pretty much threw it together in an hour or two. It's not a from scratch build. Don't have anywhere near the skill for that. I made it using weebly which pretty much has drag and drop templates. Makes things pretty simple but limits you a bit on what you can do.

    Very white-ish.
Unfortunately it's hard for me to read the text.

Maybe also add some pictures and a background wallpaper ?

Looks great. Yes to the PICS. More PICS. I too have been working on a site, so I too understand what you are dealing with. Keep up the good work.

You beat me to it! I'd say a picture slide show on home page. And I can't believe you wont take Radioactive waste.. You could sell to Lil' Kim for a sweet profit!!

This is a good link for people just starting a self promotional website. This gave me a better understanding of web page metrics and keywords. A must read IMO. enjoy

On your contact page, I would include fields for an address. Then you can check on Whitepages.com to see if it is legit.

A lot of thing mentioned above are good. Print lots of flyers directing people to your website. And have a physical address. Is there a drop off site? And on the not accepted list - add Tires, the bane of high speed travel. Unless you have a scrap tire guy, then by all means accept tires.

I would suggest getting your refrigerant recovery certs. Not being able to accept cars, refrigerators, freezers, and ac units is kind of a big deal and I'm sure many will go elsewhere because of these limitations.

Do you get many calls for TV removal with the a cost? I'm stuck between junk removal pricing and free scrap pick up. At 80 a ton it's hard to justify free puck ups these days. Bills bills bills.

I like the site it'll be neat to watch it grow

Thanks for the additional suggestions guys. I've added the few things to the non accept list. But I haven't had much time to work on anything else. I don't have a drop off location since I'm working out of my place which is a second floor condo. Luckily my parents live 2 minutes away and let me use the garage for bigger stuff. But I'd be pushing it if I had people dropping off there all the time. Lol.

Steel mill - this is definitely on my to do list down the road. I know the cert is cheap but the equipment takes a few bucks to get set up. When I have the extra cash, I'm definitely going to go that route.

Cummins - most of my pickups so far have been from friends and family or someone they referred. Finally got my first one from a random stranger the other day. And it was for tvs. On the phone she said she had 1 LCD tv. Got there and she had me haul that off along with a surprise 2 crts. Even gave me a tip. 50 bucks for a quick grab on my way home from work. I think I will pick up at these rates too since best buy stopped taking them and the newcomer to my area charges about 10-20 dollars more per tv than I do plus you have to drop it off.
