made my heart a bit warm the other night...

Towards the end of Feb.,Yunkman and his band played over at the local casino that the Iowegians built on the state line to get back at all the sales tax my metro's commerce has taken from northwest IA over the years. Yunkman again had some monitors for me so I went over and heard his band play for a while and then got those CRTs before he and his wife headed out.

On the way back from there, I stopped by a dumpster of a small apt. building in bedroom town and pulled out some light steel pieces of a little kids bed I had seen there earlier in the day. I was going to add it to my shred pile but then decided to try listing it on CL for re-purposing. I was thinking of in an artistic materials way but however someone wanted to use it, ok with me. There were the 2 rounded pieces pictured, a longer straight piece which I think was the bottom of the bed and some square little pieces as well. I listed them for $8 for the entire group, much much more than what they would have been worth going to the steel pile.

Earlier this week, a lady contacted me and wanted them but I was down with the flu and told her probably on Thursday. I went back to work on Weds. and so Thurs. I was pretty much ready to take them over to her that evening. My 16-year old said he wanted to go along so we headed into bigger town. After a bit finding her apartment place, we met up with the gal and she was very excited to get these pieces because she needed to build some sort of fence/blocking material to keep her high energy young dog in check. We got to get loved on by said doggie as we delivered the pieces. She gave me a couple extra bucks for the delivery effort. My son and I had a great conservation both going over and on the way back, worth the time even if I wouldn't have gotten any cash. It made me smile re-purposing these pieces and helping this older lady out with the dog. Scrapping, not just money but community service...
