According to Wikipedia, that would work out to a little over 138,000 bottle caps - crazy for sure.

So he's buying another case of beer with his $30 of scrap steel. Hobo you need to be-friend him and help with his next 720 pounds of beer bottle caps, that's a lot of "cold ones" for those hot summer days!

For anyone in the younger crowd or who plays video games, if fallout were real, he'd be a millionaire. Caps are life. Lol.

That's a lot of beer!! Maybe he had access to a bar's trash although unless they were separated out right after opening, it would a PITA to dig them all out!

Have they been used? If they are new, a bottler would buy them from you.

When I first turned 21 I started one of the 5 gallon water jugs as a beer cap collection. Over the many parties I threw at my house, I made sure all my friends got most of them in there. I even went so far at the beginning to bringing them home if I were camping or had a couple at a friends house. I'm 29 now and just recently hit the neck of the jug. 720 lbs is a lifetime supply many times over. Lol.

My plan is to eventually sort them out and make some sort of bar top with the resin coating stuff or a cool wall hanging one day.

As ChildhoodDream would say anything in bulk can and will sell to art and craft people.

That is just flat crazy. That ebay seller has sold almost 1300 lots of 500 beer bottle caps (that is over 38 grand at his current pricing). That guy that scrapped them should have hooked up with the ebay seller.

Ive seen it done and look very cool. I have a friend who worked at a bar and brought me home all the caps. Unfortunately, I ****ed up the pour and ruined it. The caps will float if not stuck down by something.

Up here, beer bottles are refillable and brewers are phasing them out since maybe 10 years and getting them replaced by aluminum cans. They're quiet on the reasons why they act that way and they will probably answer customer demands and environment friendly, but I guess the actual motivation is getting rid of reverse logistics to save some bucks. I also remember a radio contest where they had to find the most bottle caps they can in a week and that's what the winner did: getting them from several local bars.
By the way, I think that I mentioned it earlier, but last year I saw something similar at one of the yards I use. Some heavy drinker brought a 5 gallon pail of aluminum can tabs, all from his own drinking. After seeing that, two questions came to my mind: 1) Does he drinks something else than beer or he even cleans his teeth with beer? 2) What's remaining from his liver?
NEW TO SCRAPPING? READ THIS: Build up your horde of magnetic and non-magnetic metals in two piles until you have a better understanding of the business. Magnetic material has low value and is mostly always steel / shred / short iron. Read old threads about non-magnetic metals and ewaste (and how to sort them), but don't forget that they generally have absolutely no tolerance for contamination (screw / iron / foreign material).

You just made me nostalgic. I miss the good old 11.5oz / 12oz Coke and Pepsi glass bottles.

In the last years, I replaced soda by black coffee. Way less sugar in and I can make it at home anytime (as long I have paper filters and ground coffee). No need to run to the store anymore.

I know the answer as should others up in the years.

I just want you to know I just spent an hour googling your blue tip bottle opener. My son also. I saw openers with blue, red, green and yellow tips. The one common thing I noticed was all of them had adverts for different businesses. They all looked like they were made be the same company. This is what I came up with.
    1. There is a flashlight inside?
    2. An ink pen inside?
    3. An anal probe????
I don't know but my head is hurting. Thanks, awaiting your answer.......

I've seen some online that had holes in them with a string to hang them up on something.

I'm tired and going to bed. My brain hurts. HA!
