when people know what you do

When people know what you do. And they give you there junk and your eyes light up. Walked into my part time job to grab check. Boss gives me a In ground pool pump. Totally shot. Was hoping could fix. But the motor on that is heavy. Love unexpected surprises.

My Edward Jones financial planner knows what I do. He called me up about a month ago and said he has 3 water heaters and a pool pump if I wanted them. Yes sir, I do. And he said he would keep his ears open for anyone who needs anything hauled off. And this came about from one appointment I had with him. We were talking about diversification, and he was wondering if I was interested getting into gold and silver as a hedge against inflation. I told him about my scrapping and that 90% of the profits from it goes into physical gold and silver. After he asked me what I hauled off, he said he would give me a call if he had anything anytime he needed to get rid of. Amazing where you can make contacts.

Yep - when I was living in Titusville the guy in the trailor next to me had his own plumbing business and kept an eye out for computers and electronics. Walked away with a 12x12x12 box filled to the brim with brand new in the box resistors.

I'm a machinist by day so naturally my work has their scrap metal situation pretty well handled. (And gets prices I could only dream of. Lol) but they know I scrap and occasionally throw me stuff that their people won't take or are too bulky for the waste bins. Dead refrigerators, large cabinets, even some small support machines like belt sanders and stuff. And they let me load up on the clock. Nothing like making money while you're making money.

that's too funny, went to pick up a check today and the guy called and said there's some good stuff for ya too.
25 lbs or so of copper pipes and brass fittings al and SS pans and a little heavy steel.
he's bringing more for me from halfway across the state next week.
One of my can pickups had their daughter bring her cans from Vermont when she came to visit... totally unnecessary but you gotta appreciate the thought.

There ain't nothing wrong with an honest days work. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.- Old Man
