**** nice truck, the 5.0 is a truly remarkable engine. The mod motors ford had were plagued with engineering issues from cam phasers to spark plugs breaking off in the head. They went back to the drawing board and came out with two completely new engines in 2010, one was the 6.2L a real torque monster that puts the 6.2 chevy motor to shame and the 5.0 which as it happens gets better fuel mileage by a long shot than the ecoboost, simple economics, the ecoboost needs more emissions equipment to cope with the fact it's turbocharged and the 5.0 having unique and extremely high flowing heads acts like a much larger engine without a big engine gas consumption.
I will say a few things about the 5.0 truck right away, do a transmission fluid and filter change EVERY YEAR. There is quite alot of electronics inside that transmission and they act funny after a while with old fluid. If you plan to tow with it often enough, don't use the 5w20 that ford puts in them, the owners manual actually has a severe service schedule which includes 5w30 as a fill, use that. Last thing, the 5.0 has cam phasers, these are incredibly sensitive and expensive parts. I don't know where you live but if it gets cold DO NOT get in fire it up and take off right away, the oil in the phasers will do something called "cavitation" and after a while blow the seal out (and ruin the solenoids too) and require replacement. Give the truck a good 60 seconds before taking off with it.
