found 3 subaru cats in the woods

alright while looking for some more zinc i found in a dump pile, i found 3 cats in the woods. they say subaru on them. but how can i tell if there any good? I can shake them up and down and here nothing...but i think there full of dirt from sitting for so long and i can see threw them...no screens. im not sure if someone already took the platnium out of them or what

do not damage those cats carefully use a hose and wash out the dirt, then look in the cat and see if you see a perforated block in the middle, it may be plack and plugged, this is a ceramic,
honey comb which contains the PMG, do not take it out, do not damage it. the cat could be worth over $100 un damaged, If you remove the honey comb, you may get 12 bucks a lb, as different cars have varing ammounts of PMG and once it is out and lose they have no way of knowing which car it came out of. example a small cat from a toyota is worth twice that of a big cat from a chevy. cats from a BMW or Jaguar can be worth well over $200.

sorry olddude there no good. i cut one in half and it was hollowed right out and was full of dirt. i was excited when i first fund them, but now i just threw them in my tin pile

u cant tell what those cats are worth untill you get them off and look inside. then you use a stick to see what percent of the comb is leftif the stick goes in more then 6 inches or so they are not full and will be worth much less took a subaru cat in today, (small import) usually worth over $100, it was worth $29 becAUSE OF MISSING HONEY COMB. those look like off a bronco , it has pre cats las ones I had were $35 a piece the larger ones may well be mufflers. you cant buy a cat off the net by picture ya GOTTA HAVE IT IN YOUR HANDS AND YA BETTER KNOW WHAT YR DIONG, a replacement cat, after marked can be worth as little as $15. many muffler shops across the country take off the original cats and replace them with aftermarket ones and pocket the difference. this has become an all to common practice.

Thanks for the information. I think I'll pass on this since I am still in the learning stages of cats and wouldn't be comfortable forking that kind of money, not knowing what I am looking at.

I agree. I won't pay $250 for an entire car.

I'm trying to pick up cars for $200 or less. So far picked up a Dodge Dynasty for $100, a GMC Safari for $200, and a motor home for $200. Got a 28' travel trailer for "free". (fuel, helper and lunch to go get it).
