Al may be the same price at that yard. It may also be that in small quantities they may just toss it in one pile and give one price. If you had 100lbs of extruded and 100 lbs of cans then you may have gotten better pricing for each.

The yard I go to its all one price for Al and I've showed up with hundreds of pounds at a time. Other places it paid to separate it.

Keep reading the old threads and you will continue to gain knowledge. 73, Mike

$5 a pound for brass, $3 a pound for copper?

I would drive the 7~8hr to cash in my hoard for those prices.

I wish i could get those prices for aluminum. It's $0.37/lb here.

    All your prices look good.

You'll never know for sure until you check the prices at other yards in your area.

I tend to collect my different metals in different sacks and when I want to sell something, I sell the sacks with the most metal in it.

We get paid by the Kg here, so if I was to take in 11lbs of metal, I would only get paid for 9 of them...
That's a extreme case, but in reality I could just expect that every sale I make is a average of 500gms over the Kg mark.
So I loose 1/2 a Kg in $ for every sale.
You could say you loose 1/2 a Lb for every sale too.
The more metal you sell in one go, the less you loose. Which also makes it important to get the best $/Lb/Kg for your metal.

You are translating it wrong. $1/lb of brass got $5, so had 5 pounds of brass. $1.50/lb of CU#1 got $4.50, so had 3 pounds of CU#1.

Around me the al cans generally go for a few cents more than sheet al, but not always as it depends on which yard I go to.

It's not that we're translating it wrong, OP wrote it wrong. OP should have said price per pound or price / pound
