Sold the limo, bought some trailers

As some of you may recall, I had that 8 door limo for sale. Sold it and bought a few trailers.



First trailer is a Take 3 car hauler. I thought it would be useful for larger cleanups, but I’ve decided to sell it. Plus my truck isn’t heavy enough to pull it. What you see is just me messing around putting cars on it and pulling it forward.

I also got a 8x20 flatbed at auction. Needs decking. Plan to build an open floor tool trailer for mounting 2 generators, plasma, air compressor, tool box, water tank and pump for fire suppression, etc.

Then I bought a 6x16 gooseneck dump. I had missed out on one I would have preferred, which was an 8x18 Big Tex GN dump. Then I found one in Florida. Put my bid in. Was outbid. Whoever got it got a good deal, but I had to leave my bid low to allot for transport.

Then it popped up on CL. The one I have wanted since I found out they make ‘em….

An 8x20 Big Tex GN dump. Same model as the one I missed out on in FL. I think this one was the better deal.

Now I have one for corralling metal, and one for trash when I do breakdowns.

Yes I know. I need a bigger truck. That’s another purchase, hopefully soon!

Maybe you could figure out how to make the bus into a fifth wheeler toter!

That is a great collection of trailers. It is evident you are moving up in your business plan. Selling the limo to buy your trailers was a smart move in my opinion. The limo would have been valuable on prom night, but a trailer would have served the same purpose.

The smartest thing I did with trailer decking was using pressed metal (cat walk). Some may disagree, but it has saved me a lot of shoveling. The front half of my trailer is wooden to secure small items and the back half is pressed metal. This is one of five trailers, but only one of three I built from scratch. It is my second effort at creating a tub trailer out of a stock trailer. As far as pickups, I would be looking out for a F350 with a 7.3 Powerstroke. Mine is a 2000 and has over 350,000 miles on it. It can still haul a stock trailer full of horses at 80 mph across the state. BTW SD and WY both have speed limits of 80 mph on the interstate. I am confident the body of this truck will fall apart before the transmission or engine. Just a thought from someone that deals with ice and snow five months a year.

Now on the topic of a goose neck made out of a bus, the 7.3 diesel will pull it. Just to be polite, this thread has given me another adventure. Building a goose neck trailer out of a bus is my next challenge. Thanks for posting and providing an idea.
