    Pizza Hut Call

I had got a call from a guy that saw my craigslist ad, when I got there, it was an old pizza hut buliding, this guy wanted me to remove a old pizza oven, plus a safe, well I broke down most of the oven and took the compressor off the top of a cooler that was outside the buling, but there was no way I could get the rest of the pizza oven with out a trailer and unfortuneatley I don not have one right now, so I told him that it would have to monday for me to remove the rest, but he was not happy with me for saying that, but if I had a trailer I would have it all loaded up in one day, but for the time being, until I can get a trailer, that would have to be that way for now

Most people who want something removed want it gone yesterday.

If a job is to big or if you don't have the tools to complete it then you should walk and let someone else do it. That could have possibly been a good contact for future jobs if you had been prepared.

lowe's rents trailers, trucks and other things...so does uhaul. Keep that in mind the next time you need a quick answer to a problem. The other thing is I never agree to anything before I can assess (I mean the guy has a cell phone right? ask for a few pics where you can make sure you bring the correct equip...or...ACTUALLY have to pass on the deal. That happens and sometimes you have to know when to say No, I can't or it will cost $XXXX). Scrap is what it is, but steel pays little to nothing for the effort....this is why professional companies CHARGE to remove big ass stuff. Keep that in mind.

PROFIT is made when you BUY/ACQUIRE NOT when you sell

So true, I have kicked myself in the butt, each and everytime that I sold my 6x12 trailer, I thought I was done doing scrap metal, but I thought wrong, it seems like everytime I try to retire from scrap metal, I get lured back into it again, I have thought of renting a trailer, but I passed it up, I was looking at what it would cost me, lus what I would be making out of the scrap that I was hauling.
The load that I have right now is a mixture of stainless and steel, so I should make a little bit off of it, but I have learned a valueable lesson on this and I can garantee, that something like this comes up again, I will be ready for it with no doubt.

I hope that people reading this post, don't make the same mistake that I have made, ask questions and ask for pictures of the item that they want you to pick up and please don't bite off more than you can chew, it can turn around and bite in the butt.

When I decided to start scrapping I already had a one ton crew cab dually with a 16 foot car trailer and winch that can haul a tractor. People do want it all gone when you get there. They will call someone else if you cannot get it done. I can haul a huge load and get there fast. Once people see how much I can haul they always have more they want gone like mowers and appliances. Sometimes their neighbors will drop by and tell me they have stuff they need hauled away. One call recently the lady had gone on Facebook before I got there and turned one stop in to seven. I had a full load from one call.
