Found a really nice load of early 80's super high grade gold scrap. Need buyer.

I'm trying to figure out how to find a buyer in the Colorado Springs/Denver area to take a look at this scrap. I'm guessing it should produce about 1 ounce of gold per pound of scrap. Also, how do I post quality pics? Or if any buyers in the Colo Spgs/Denver area just wants to PM their email I can send you pics that way.

Its about 90lbs of early 80's telecom boards.

One old pin board? Not sure what to call it. It had 3/4" long gold plated pins. 100's of them. Weighs about 4lbs.



9lbs of old white ceramic cpu's without pins.

2 to 3lbs of gold plated pins.

37 pounds of green board that just has gold plating. No components or other metals. Just 1/4" to 3/4" gold plated bands all over them. 27 boards total weighing 37lbs. I would be surprised if the didn't have 2 to 4 ounces of gold per board. Each board is about 16" x 20" or so.

Other odds and ends.

I have never seen any boards that are 1/16th gold by weight ...

The first thing you need to do is follow steps 1-3.




1 ounce of gold per pound of scrap? Sounds like someone has gold fever.

How do you post good pics. I can't figure it out. I don't do forums much I just figured someone would like to get their hands on this stuff and I would like to make some money off of it.

So, how much do you think this roughly 140#'s accumulation of high grade 1 oz per pound gold containing scrap is worth? If it is 140 oz of gold, you would be looking at $175,000.00.

I see your all hung up on the once of of gold per pound comment. I wasn't trying to offend. Just going off of what I could find. If anyone has constructive input it would be appreciated.

I will say that I thought the once per pound seemed off for the telecom boards but if you saw pics of the stuff thats just green board and gold plating you might change your mind. PM me an email and I will shoot you pics.

Ok. Sorry I got caught up in the 1 ounce gold per pound of scrap. How many 1 pound increments would you estimate contain 1 ounce of gold?

What you described are "high yield" boards. They can sell for $5 - $25 per pound ( depending on type and buyer ). The layer of gold ( even in old stuff ) is not very thick.

We're hung up on the 1oz of gold per pound because we hear that a lot an know better.

Dig about an you'll find why we say that. Jimi gave you some excellent advice on how to find the buyers, Mike answered the Pic one, an Red even told ya about a buyer right there in CO. He is a good buyer an a long time forum member, he also has a thread in the buyer section. If your wondering why we're not naming names...see the post about advertising/seeking buyers. An yes..Introduce yourself, it's not a bad thing an it shows your serious an not just a fly by poster.

An I assure you...unless those are military grade boards or you got some serious gold plating, I think your gonna be little sad in what they bring. If you want gold...find a gold refiner, their not here, an we don't discuss gold refining. GRF(Gold Refining Forum) is where you want to go to seek out a toll refiner. You can also try an sell your boards on eBay.

Easy solution..find your buyer, take pics, an then send them to the buyer via email if you don't plan to make 10 posts(it's 10 posts if I recall to put up pics). Mike mentioned Photobucket, there is also..imgur, and many other picture hosting sites. most are free some charge, depends on your needs.

With that said...you've been given excellent advice. An all from folks who've been here awhile.

Good luck an remember, we like to help folks, but we also get a lot of folks who come through just seeking info an then vanish without even a thank you, or any sign their thankful for the help.

Funny how perspectives work. I'd be dancing in the streets if his load even brought the value of one ounce of gold and at least fist pumping in the air even if its was $500 in total. I think he'd be pretty bummed with even a grand in his pocket from the stuff. Good luck Scoty1 getting some coin for your old boards but I hope reality does kill your anticipated score. I don't know if you paid for these boards or got them for free. If the latter, you're way ahead even if its only a few hundred bucks. Now go find some more...
