    Tires for the Ram D100

    My Ram D 100 calls for 195 - 75 - 15
For now I have 235 75 15 from original owner
    (and they need replacement)

Wile I like the larger size for what it offers , the larger in diameter tire does cause a taller gear ratio . The slants are a bit edgy in the power curve .
I feel the 235's enhance that edgy quality .

I suspect the factory recommendation 195 - 75 - 15 is the way to go with the slant 6
The smaller size tire will offer lower gearing ,
so gear choice is less sensitive to avoid some lugging of motor .

    I could go 205 or 225 as a compromise
An advantage to using the factory size tire is it will lower truck down by 2 or so inches
& for loading a heavy fridge , washer and stuff like that
as I tip in and leverage it in
any lowering of inches of a tail gate will only help

Any one have any first hand experience with this situation

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

The problem with narrower tires may be their weight limit. A 215-75-15 may be the safe choice. The gearing may lug down the engine a bit, but a Slant Six is only 225cid, so you're not going to win races anyways. Go for something that can haul the weight, and get there when you get there safely

Better mileage with more plies fyi. A D range tire will be compliant yet pretty stiff, and can be found in smaller 235 treadwidth.

So the consensus is even tho the recommended size is 195 the draw back's will be - less weight carting . harsh ride . MPG
I do need be careful cause i'll be living with these tires for a long time .
I could find used as in my past - 215 or 225 , then I can get a better idea
