I saw a posting on cl's "free list" about 4:45 PM on Thursday of a business wanting to clean out their IT "junk" room (that's what I called it) that was located in my bedroom town. Looks like it had been posted sometime after 3pm that afternoon. It was one of those "MUST TAKE ALL" things and they had more printers than computers but I decided to call in the morning if the ad was still up.
I called a little after 8 AM and they wanted to know how soon I could be over. I said 15 minutes because I was still planning to be in the office on Friday. What they didn't tell me was that everything would have to go down a flight of stairs and they had a nice but get-in-the-way yellow lab to work around but OK, I was ready to go to work when I got there (I had switched out to the 2nd kid's pickup after he had gone to school). My hand cart wasn't really effective in taking stuff down the stairs without decent straps (a lesson for next time) but at least it helped in moving stuff down the hall to the top of the stairs.
I'm glad they had enough stuff for 2 pick up loads because my middle-aged tubby self was sucking wind a bit after getting the printers down. The second load was easier doing mostly the desk tops. The ram bandits weren't as bad as I tought after tearing through the pcs last night and this morning and printers are stacked and under a tarp in my work area of my side of the garage for slower breakdown over some time. I ended up with about 20 printers of all different sizes, 13 desktops, 4 flat screen monitors, a couple of laptops, and 3-4 boxes of mostly cords and misc. crap. I got a good pyhsical workout without the back barking (legs a little sore this morning), and the sanctification of the "early bird getting the worm" as I heard the gal answer 3-4 calls inquiring about the stuff as I was hauling it out. And I found a section of bedroom town that I had never been to before and the rain mostly held off until I was done. So it goes...
