My buddy that I scrap with and I got together yesterday for some tear down. We had accumulated a good bunch of stuff and it was piling up. Tear down day is fun and of course profitable.
One item worth mentioning was 4 outdoor lights. They were completely shot so unfortunately they were non sellable. The housings were each a few pounds of aluminum and each one had a transformer in it that weighs 8 pounds 15 ounces. After the first one it took a bout 2 minutes to completely tear one down to clean scrap.
We started around 1 in the afternoon and had a massive mess in the driveway from everything that we tore down. We then left at 4:30 to pick up a stackable washer and dryer that I got from freecycle. The add stated that they were both broken and beyond economical repair. (otherwise I don't grab working stuff from freecycle to scrap. Other people need that stuff.)
On the way back we grabbed a monitor from the trash and stopped at
Mickey Finn's for a couple drinks and some garlic parmesan buffalo shrimp.
We made our way back to the house. We managed to strip the washer (front load with a lot of concrete in it) and get everything cleaned up as darkness was engulfing us. we were filthy and a little buzzed when wifey finally woke up to get ready for work, so I was really glad everything was all cleaned up
Anyhoo. We have a nice pile of clean stuff to take in, a pile of motors to strip the copper from, and still more stuff to tear down. We will spend one more evening tearing stuff down and try to hit the scrap yard on Thursday.
Good times, good times. Thanks for listening!
