After about 3 years out of the game...

I did e-scrap recycling quasi part-time for a couple years and stopped about 2 years ago. (Wife wanted stable income and I complied.) Thought I'd get back into it for fun and to make a little bit of extra money and just had my first score. 70 P1 and P2 laptops, complete with the exception of about half missing the battery. 410 bucks, and I'm excited to start cracking into them.

Not trying to pop your bubble, but at $410, I wouldn't expect to make much.

Were the Pentium Pro chips ever used in laptops? I would think the age of the machines might make them more valuable than the more modern stuff. But it does seem like you may have paid a bit too much. Let us know how it all works out.

Copper, brass, and Leather. 3 of my favorite things.

Do you plan on opening these up? ( usually 15 mins a piece). I had A LOT of experience with that when I started doing Ewaste recycling years ago. The P1 will have some cool heavily gold laden boards but don't weigh much ( maybe a lb) and are priced same as the newer ones for scrap price. A lot of times the ceramic CPUs were soldered on . Also there is nothing of resale value unless you got an old apple in there. Those laptops whole weigh 8-10 lbs each you might be better served just selling them whole to a buyer on here. Just my $.02 which is worth none sometimes.

None of the P1/P2 mobile chips are gold topped, PPro was a server chip not for laptops. If the laptops function you might get $30 a pop on ebay otherwise not sure if they will be profitable to take apart and scrap.

A good haul, but I also think you paid too much. I don't pay more than $2 per scrap laptop, unless newer with resale value.
You might still be able to profit, probably better sell them whole. At say 8 lbs each that would be 560 lbs, at say $1.00 per lb, there is still some profit, unless you need to ship.
