This yard is different than all other ones I've been to in that it recently got rid of all iron categories except for clean and dirty non-magnetic stainless. Everything else, including cast iron and magnetic stainless (the latter most local yards don't recognize), goes as tin for between $60-80/ton depending on the quantity.
here its $.055 for steel
$.18 dirty aluminum 70%
$.27 wholesale engine block
$.19 wholesale tranny
$.40 aluminum
$.42 cast aluminum
$.25 clean stainless
$.40 low grade wire
$1 for romex and other stuff comparable or better than romex
$.47 aluminum rim
$.065 brake drums and rotors.
steel and dirty aluminum at that yard is higher than most places around here since theres a hammer mill at that yard.
UK prices for the North East (Stockton-On-Tees) heavey copper ie piping and bus bar -£3.90p-bright stripped wire 4.50p.aluminium cast 90p rolled ali 68-70p,stainless 18/6 70p 316L 95p.brass yellow 2.50p red brass (gunmetal) 2.80p.motors 30p plate and girders (iron) £200 per tonne, frag feed £140 per tonne heavey number 1 steel £170 per tonne,brass/copper radiators £3.00p-unstripped household wire £1.10p low grade cable armoured 70p irony aluminium or mixed metals 27p zinc 40p tunsten cutting tips £15 tungsten solids £14-nickel alloys range from £1.50p-£8 niobium £9 ---99% nickel 7-10 £
all none ferrous are weighed in kilos and steel/iron weighe in tonnes-same as a usa tonne - i think-we here have seen a massive rise in iron/steel prices, but all the better metals have slowed down a little but at their highest for say 4-5 yrs-motors and batteries have dropped so too has lead batteries are 58p per kilo and lead is £1.20p
i have been saving my hard drive magnets for a while ended up with 17 kilos of mu-metal a nickel alloy or shield metal as its sometimes known, when my scrapyard tested them the first few tested were super type mu metal and i recieved £7 per kilo i did have to remove the neodenyum magnets so far i cant find a buyer for the magnets.
also here in the uk well south of england, auto yards who scrap cars are now selling lamba censors (oxy censors) for around £3.50p a kilo they contain small amounts of platinum and zicronium i think the other metal is,its the z metal what they after...
I took in a few items on Friday that included #2 Cu @ $2.15 a pound, extruded alum @ 60 cents a pound, and alum cans @ 50 cents a pound.
Hey, Skunkhead, nice to see another of the Queen's subjects join us!! I wonder if you can translate your price list a bit. I just looked up what the pound is trading against the U.S. dollar for and it says 1 pound= 1.34 dollars which would also mean that 1 pence = 1.34 U.S. cents. So, if you're saying "bright stripped wire" is going for "4.50p", I'm assuming that 4 1/2 quid for your weight unit. That equals $6.03 a kilo or $2.74 a lb. in the U.S. Do I have that right? If so, then we can translate the rest of your sheet.
By the way, is that you in your avatar pix? If so, what kind of fish are those seen with you...?
Won't make you a gazillionaire but the magnets sell well on Ebay for better than scrap prices.
yes thats abouit right we are payed by the tonne or the kilo for small amounts,so 1,000 kilos is a tonne or there abouts.
lol AT queen she ain't my queen, she a greedy old cow simples and all her chums who have systematically stole land and rights over everything hence my avatar picture.
Yes thats me in the pic two yrs back near the end of the salmon season october time (finishes halloween) those fish were from Durham city near the cathederal, that was free fishing given to the folks of durham in the magna carter days nearly 1k yrs back, then in 1860s the fishing was handed to the people of durham by the cities freeman, but we had the best sea trout fishing in the uk at one point with many unacointed records broke each yr i broke it 4 times in 37yrs,now freemason syndacates and close nit angling clubs have put the boot in saying it was haunted by poachers and the fish stocks are dwindling how very wrong they on the up st have down but atlantic salmon are booming so the poaching thing dont wash search/google river wear fish counts or river tyne fish counts :-) roll on 1st february thats when it all starts again ;-) its all my water not theirs and i share my water and dont ask 2k per day for fishing a top river in scotland
lead wash radiators from boilers are £2.50p a kilo-today
i got a shed load of motherboards and logic boards to start for the very first time,no one i know is on to this,so im asking for some help, which bits are the paladium or silver bits, which bits are the jewels if yer like? is it worth me buying some acid to deplate the gold from the fingers and processors,i have about 400 sticks of ram mostly 128-256 from millenium and xp days along with a lot of boards and other heavily plated circut boards of all descriptions ive saved
