I've been looking for an oil filter crusher (reasonably priced) for some time with no results. Found a cylinder this weekend that should be big enough.....lol.. so I will just build my own. Big enough to just use shop air with no need for a hydraulic unit. This thing is a BEAST.......23" across x 2" thick end plates, 30-1/2" long with cylinder body, 1-1/4" tie rods. I estimate a 22" diameter piston with a 2' stroke. Should put out 20 ton @105 psi., 25 ton @ 132 psi., 30 ton @ 157 psi.. Still working on design but thinking about setting it up as a press with a filter crusher adapter. Almost forgot....estimated weight over 900# (end plates alone are 300# ea.), and I only paid $40 for it !!! Plan is to disassemble it to check for a clean/ rust free bore before I put air to it or spend any time on design. I have no idea how it was stored, might just be scrap. I have no idea what this came off of but I found it at a farm/construction auction.
