What are you talking about? The list on the counter is not all inclusive. They have always had other categories. Heater cores and copper transformers are not on the list, but I've sold them under those categories.
The one change I've seen in the last year is they aren't paying for tires on rims anymore.

The only change for most of us is the learning curve. The more we learn, the less we know.

Give back more to this world than we take.

only specific Motors are purchased as motor price
Well pump - sink disposal - power tools - steel cased motors - NOT even copper bearing any more They are considered MIX
Copper bearing pay's only .10 # any way
Fluorescent balester only old stile no more electronic type's NOT copper bearing any more, considered MIX
There is a scale-down on what is paid
as what used to be the Prime money for scrappers who hunt
I feel in time it may go down the line as to what is - Dirty AL - Dirty Brass and other's
in the end more to dismantle or sell off as is
they are cutting out the GRAY area .
-----------
So in respect to an oldie There was a time I could take TV boards put them in trash pails Chop up to save on room
and that was .17 per pound those were the days my friend

Times change. Categories change. Prices change.
Scrappers have to change also.
I remember when shred was a penny a pound and I remember when it was 10 cents a pound.
When I was 7 or 8 years old I made good money riding my bike and collecting returnable bottles. 44 years later and I'm scrapping computers and phone systems and selling some of it like ram and processors to buyers on this forum.
Roll with the changes.

Try a smaller yard for the mixed. Feed weissman shred... What he wants anyways.

Shred is about .07 to .08 thats fine by me
I have some concerns
I have taken apart every thing that can be scrapped from consumers
I knew some motors had AL wireing - balester's some copper many NOT - Compressors Same -
I knew what was real well before the industry responded , I figure the yards did not care
they would sell what recyclers ( Particular china ) would Buy
In time the customer catches on that the Percentage of metal value is not there
So my Concern : All my computer BOARDS and all that goes with it
Not to scare any one but when it comes to recyclers they are the buyers
changes in law's could quickly change value .
I need sell my computer items , not to say the ride is over
but I don't want to find out it is when I have Box's and box's of them .
OK who buys them Here !!
I changed by developing relationships with commercial companies. The result for me is more profit, and more material gets recycled. 73, Mike
"Profit begins when you buy NOT when you sell." {quote passed down to me from a wise man}
Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked

Yep one yard I go to says all copper content. I take all motors even small stuff good mix they give me electric motor price. But as the price is low could have just sold it as copper barring with the bonus price and made the same.
Better than the dump!

my area must be around a 200 mile drive from you

Read the 1st post. He is talking about Ben Wietsman. Not sure which yard. New Castle would be higher prices than that. I know Albany''s scale price was $171 a gross ton Thursday. It had just dropped $5. Was $205 about a month or month and a half ago.
