must be a special tank to bring your own heavy equipment...

Hey boys and girls, its been a good while since I posted anything. I guess I just got out of the habit. I hope all is well and I'll have to catch up.

I always like to bring "interesting" free things that might be scrapable but are they worht the effort. I saw this one today on our local craigslist "free" category:

Large molasses metal tank. Tank is empty and not used for years. Might be some in very bottom of tank. Price is free however the tank is mounted on concrete towers and will need a small crane to pick up and remove. Buyer will need to bring crane.

I guess if you might get into making molasses or need it for some other use, it might be worth the effort if you were close. Or if you're just bored, have a small crane (big loader?). and have extra logical cash to burn, it might be a quest. I'll have to watch how long this one lasts.

Tank would be a cinch, it's sitting on pillars made of cinder block.

Molasses is a by product from the process of making cane sugar, dairy farmers mixed it in with the feed for the cows.

It would be easy enough to use a rope and your vehicle to roll that thing off the stand to the ground, if it is actually empty. Done it many times before.

And how do you stop it from rolling once on the ground!?

I would use the tractor hubs underneath it to keep it from rolling off the trailer. Another option without equipment is to park the trailer beside it and break the blocks to lower it to trailer height and then let it roll onto the trailer. If the blocks are filled with concrete a skid steer would be my choice.
Give back more to this world than we take.

Trust me. It won't roll far unless it is on a steep slope. Almost anything put on the ground in front of it will stop it.
