I think you may have misunderstood my meaning as well....I have ramped up advertising am going to expand my vehicles as well and continue to build lasting relationships with customers I have.....I want less competition for sure so Doom and Gloom runs off those with thin skin or those not finacially able to continue.....Either way you and I are probably in a much different boat than others who are desperate to find a load to either get there next fix or meal whichever they require..

Down to 105 per ton at the one 2 miles from my house. Glad I had some copper, stainless, aluminum, brass and low grade copper wire.

That one is down to 100/ton today. Guess I won't be going there for a while with their 3$ "environmental fee"... unless Atlas has gone down even more.

Shred has been 80 a ton for almost 6 months now. I checked today and it's back up to 100.

    Exclamation

Still $0.03 /lb for shred in my part of the state ( as of 9 days ago ).

I think it's $0.05 /lb for normal steel, however I'd have to drive down and check.

Stated before, sold alum and stain to the place i sell non ferrous to and they were down 20/ton, paying 135 for shred. Went to the shredder yard yesterday to dump off the steel i had so it wouldnt be sitting around over the holliday weekend. Still paying 165/ton there, Got lucky with that price. Sure it will be down tuesday when they re open

I have yet to go there. Maybe next Saturday. Since they have normal hours I can't go there unless I am off work or unless i save a bunch up for Saturday... provided they are open on Saturday.

Denver Scrap Metal was open today until 7:30pm, is open tomorrow till 4:30pm and I feel bad for the people that work there cause they are open Monday till 7:30PM!

Man that IS a drag for their workers...but great for sellers, so I can appreciate that.

RMR is open on Saturdays 730-1200 but can be busy due to others not being able to get there during the week. RMR is pretty much the only place I go...they are run very well and the drive-thru non-ferrous lines are so easy to off load. When I bring in big equipment they are usually quick about having a grapple or fork lift to get it off my trailer.

Got what I consider a good score yesterday, so feeling a little better.

I picked up 3 batteries, 7 BMW 3 series car doors, 2 aluminum heads, cams, radiator, starter, alternator and random scrap metal + aluminum scrap besides the car parts from a BMW mechanic/enthusiast that used to be a a part time scrapper on the way back from picking up an I6 ford engine block, head, crank and alternator/starter etc... Got some aluminum chairs too.

Although it was all strapped down really well, it would have been good to have those wood boards for the sides of my truck or a trailer cause it was a hair raising ride home even if it was a short ride, and I have a shaven head.

    So far just the scrap was 860lbs @ 100/ton, batteries were 176 lbs. @ 15 cents/lb.

I am waiting for another yard to open to sell all the aluminum with my brass, copper and stainless collection.

I'm off work today so this morning I sold the rest of the load + my saved copper and brass

#2 Copper 6lbs @ 1.81/lb (99% of it was stripped dryer and stove pigtails)
    Brass 3lbs @ .91/lb
Bailing tin 7lbs @ 95/ton (glad I had some scrap I forgot to throw in last load so I know what their scrap price went down to)
    Radiator 10lbs @ .10/lb
    Mixed aluminum 57lbs @ .24/lb
    Aluminum breakage 124lbs @ .05/lb <---- WTH?
    Cast aluminum 16lbs @ .25/lb
    #1 insulated copper 11lbs @ 1.55/lb

So that one load was the most profitable so far (above post + this one), and prices are the lowest they have been since I started doing this, but I wasn't stripping wire at all, or saving brass and aluminum the way I do now.

    Went in yesterday.

    Copper 2: $2.00/lb
    Low grade ins wire: $0.45/lb
    Electric motors: $0.10/lb
    Clean coils: $0.95/lb
    Old cast AL: $0.30/lb
    Extruded AL: $0.46/lb
    Rotors: $7.50 a hundred
    Shred: $5.50 a hundred.

They have a literal mountain of unprocessed shred at the drop area. At least 4 stories high, plus a mountain of flattened cars next to the shredder.
Lately I've seen signs for a temp agency on the roadside advertising for 300 workers needed. This agency is used by the local steel mill when they have a large order to fill.
    So that's a good sign.
