but first...
A congratulation's goat is in order. Cause getting a repeat customer of that size is a good thing.
Sirscrapalot's tips to giant piles of various electronics...
1. Break down many of one thing. So you get a "good" idea of what you'll find in them in the future. Not everything is the same.
2. Have your area organized where your going to break things down. Bin for waste, bin for your various metals/items, etc. For example...I would have a bucket/tub for cords, vcr heads, heat sinks, brown boards, green boards(to go back later through), various other bins an boxes.
3. Have a plan for your trash. Plastic is hard to get rid of in a lot of places, some it's easier. Find out what your area does, and if there is a better option. Same with glass if you end up with tv's or anything else with glass. Cardboard also. You can at lest find buyers for cardboard. You'll need a lot of weight but someone will buy it!
4. Work smart, not hard.
5. Prep your work area - Have all the tools, screwdrivers, etc you'll need to get the breakdowns done as fast as your able/comfortable.
6. Don't waste your time checking every board as you pull it. If it's brown throw it in a bin, same with green, or any other color you find.
7. This goes with 6. Once you have your boards in piles/bins/etc, go back through them an check for the good stuff. Sort further as needed. If you need further info on sorting boards plenty of threads an posts in the archives from those who came before that said it better then I can.
8. Have a cooler.
9. Have a radio.
10. Fill the cooler, an use it.
11. I'll add more later if I think of them or remember them.
12. Oh...an be safe breaking stuff done. Never know what you will find.
Once you break down enough of those things...an I say things cause there is a lot there, lol. You will get faster. My first tv's took me forever, now I can do them a hell of a lot faster. Your radios, DVD players, stereo Receivers, an such will always vary by brand, year, etc. Don't assume the high end brands are the best, you'd be surprised. This is true with the receivers and radios especially car radios.
You found a good client it seems. Always to have what I call a "Feeder" client. They will feed you stuff all day long til you say uncle, an that's great when you want to learn or make sure you always have work coming in.
Forgive me for inserting my advice an tips. It's an area I've done quite a bit an the above all work for me. Adapt as you need to fit your needs and desires. No point learning stuff if you don't bother to pass it on to those who come behind you.
