    Internship

Howdy y'all! So for some background, I am currently a college student and I have been trying to find an internship in the waste and recycling industry and I have had a hard time finding one so far. I was wondering if anyone had any information or companies that y'all know of that are hiring interns for Summer 2019 or maybe you need an intern at your own company. I would like to stay in Texas, but I'm open for anything.

If you know of anything or would like to contact me, please message me here on the forum. Thank you.

I'm a college student as well. While I'm not actively looking for internships, I do know that most colleges have a department that helps students look for opportunities in pretty much all fields. Maybe try them if you are able and haven't already?

Don't know what kind of vehicle you have and how big it is, but have you thought about checking for free stuff on Craigslist? I saw something recently where a guy said he'd give $100 to the first person who would haul away his shed. It was already broken down into a big pile, and there was metal in the pile. I just didn't have a vehicle big enough to do it or I would have.

But there may be other opportunities that surface in your area from Craigslist.

You might have the perfect opportunity at your local recycling center. Visit with the manager about your interest and desire to learn. Start hanging out at the scrap yard trying to learn everything you can about their operation. Get to know and ask employees questions. Always have your best question saved for the manager if the opportunity arises. If you hang out there long enough the manager will get tired of seeing you and put you to work. If your goal is an internship on the management side of the business, start out as an employee to learn this side first. This will allow for an education in metal recycling before learning the paper work and human resources side of the business. Just some random thoughts.
Give back more to this world than we take.
