    Life in the Dakotas

This was yesterday...TOO SOON! Today the sky is blue, and the sun is shining. Still some snow around tho.

I have been watching my weather app because of the hurricane and saw the snow up there. It's been in the high 80s here until last night when the cold front came through. This morning was around 50 and it got up to 65 and was sunny all day.

Up here it's been in the 70's.
Temperature at night is getting into the low 50's and upper 40's. In about 3 more weeks, the frosts will be here to stay.

Could I 'borrow' that metal crate in the pictures ?

Yes. Chemical skids they call them around here. Used for farm fertaliser/chemicals. Usually weigh 120-130lbs with the top cut off and come in very handy for scrap! I use them all the time.

we are heading into summer and im just dreading it..i wish it was cold and snowy here...much easier to work outdoors and do physically demanding stuff.

with the heat & humidity here, u get drained out even when ur doing nothing.

Freeze up used to come around Veterans Day, although more recently that's been pushed back way further into Nov and even early Dec. I've seen winter come and stay from about the 10th of Nov a couple of years, although I'm in the one of the warmest areas of East River SD. I suspect there is a lot of farmers with most of their soybeans standing hoping that winter doesn't come early this year but the forecast for next week is mostly nice temps and dryness, so they'll probably get a break. There will be a lot of dust in the country air by the eve of the general pheasant opener!!

Good reminder that it is time to winterize everything. The stock tanks have been frozen over the last three days and diesels are getting cranky about starting. I heard north and east of you they got a bucket load of snow. Time to hibernate.
Give back more to this world than we take.

Dragging my feet on winterizing the boat. Holding out for an Indian Summer. Did pretty well on Bitter Lake this year. Miss being out there!

Had to break down and light the heater because of the early snow and frost. I have never fished Bitter Lake, but now it is on the radar.

My goat shall consume your soul.

    Tho I did laugh.

I'm still not calling off the goat though.

Sirscrapalot - No. - God, his answer to most prayers.

Here he comes now and we call him SirScrapAlong. They are cute and not very tough when they are young.

    Edited: Pun intended.

Oh Patriot, I'm glad I like you.

It's good to see all these years of being a smart ass on here someone finally came along and took advantage of the free education.

I'd also vote for it for a top 10 best reply.

Patriot has been here since 2012, has contributed a many of a good post and has won the respect of many among us here on the forums. Those crazy jobs he takes on an taunts us all with? His many many many many centuries...err decades of experience he has provided all of us? His many years prior to joining the forum in his prior occupation?...An what shall his legacy be? It will be his perfect reply 6 years in the making.

There are far worse things to be remembered for.

Sirscrapalot - This post is full of sarcasm, several clowns and pixies WERE harmed in this post.

PS - I know Patriot knows I'm just joking around but...for those that don't....I'm just joking around.

Snow on the 4000's last night but I not gonna bother to go up and see it. I get to watch winter come lower and lower into the valley in the coming weeks.

There ain't nothing wrong with an honest days work. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.- Old Man
