    My last scrap job

So I had some appliances to pick up in a town about 30 minutes southeast of where I live. Guy says everything sitting outside and in the garage I can take if it's metal. Picked up four fridges, a vending machine, rolling toolbox and an almost complete motorcycle. The motor cycle was complete minus the seat, gas tank and fiberglass body panels.
I don't know much about bikes but I ended up deciphering the vin and found out its a 1985 Honda VF1000R.

Anyways, I ended up selling the bike for $350 plus a 1994 Mazda B3000. There's a 40 foot semi trailer box sitting at the place also and they want $50 for that. I need to talk to a truck salvage yard near me to see what they'd give me for it. Otherwise on this job alone I've made $500 plus another pick up (#4 in my fleet). I will add some pictures after I get an imgur account set up.

I am a very happy man right now!

Thank you. This was the best score I've gotten so far but that's what I love about doing this. You never know what you'll find or get.

Good job and congrats. This is an addictive hobby and it seems you just drank the kool aid. Don't worry, we can always start an AA for scrappers if you become addicted.

I have been doing this off and on since I was 16 (I'm 24 now) and I can say that yes it is addictive. Last year I hauled most of my shred with my 4-banger ranger. And this year is even better, larger loads with my super duty.

Hopefully prices go back up soon cause I feel the need for scrapping.

Congrats on the score! The thing is, as prices rise, the harder it is to find scrap.

The funny thing is earlier this year when prices were at $170/ton there were people calling me from north of Sioux Falls, Omaha, Minnesota, and Des Moines. The closest to me was the one by Sioux Falls and that was still 2 hours away. Finding the scrap with high prices was no issue for me I just didn't have the time working 60 hours a week. Seems like with the lower prices I can't get any scrap besides what people throw on my trailers

Her is the Mazda. It's a 1994 3.0 v6 5 speed 4x2 with 127,000 miles. Runs and drives. It needs front calipers, rear window and fuel pump. I'm thinking about keeping it and using my 94 ranger as a parts truck since this one is in better shape.
