    Easy $100 from the curb

About a month ago I grabbed a dehumidifier from the curb, as I wanted another one for my basement, grabbed it. Brought it home, plugged it in, worked great. I went to google the model number to find some specs/manuals on it, and I come to find out this model has been in a recall and is a serious fire hazard! So I went and unplugged it and did some more googling and found there was a class-action lawsuit for this model. I filled out the forms with the model info, my name, address, etc (they also needed pictures of the unit with the cord cut, and my name and the date written on it in sharpie, took 2 seconds AND I can scrap the cord!). Today I got a check in the mail for $96 for being part of the class action suit. Pretty good deal for garbage from the curb and not much work. Goes to show you never know what some stuff may be worth, even in unconventional ways!
