At this point practically any hustle beats the current scrap prices.

Not really a new hustle but in my current situation I haven’t been scrapping much. The army doesn’t really like me strapping too much scrap on to their fuel tankers. I’m kinda hoping scrap remains down when I get back, as it might help my situation if I can buy low and sit on things till it goes back up hopefully rather quickly. But it does probably really suck for y’all depending on it at the moment.

I'm going long term on copper.

Aside from that, just the usual better than scrap option w/ ewaste.

Not banking on it, but i might get a cut on a real estate sale if i can put the right parties in a room together. It will be a question of finding the right buyer for a select piece of property. I run into a lot of different people in my line of work.

A friend of mine has a decent hustle going on with putting business deals together. He's good at making business startups happen.Gotta hand it to him ... he works hard and really puts himself out there. Not all of his projects come to fruition but enough do that i think he's making a fairly decent living at it.

I've got plenty of storage for non ferrous, and every Wednesday morning with my day job I drive right past the yard to drop off whatever I might have in the way of shred.

I'm not picking up water heaters and other steel/iron as aggressively as I used to, but if it's on my way, I'll still get it.

    It's all found money anyway.

So far Board prices are holding steady so I am still scrapping CPUs/electronics but Ive only been selling boards and steel. All my non ferrous will be stored until prices are back up or until I get enough together for bulk pricing.

I did just sell 3,500 lbs of aluminum breakage at a decent price because my scrap yard was about to ship and my stuff topped off their container.

Other than that I've just been maximizing time spend on CPU resale parts. Listing a lot more stuff than I normally would. Usually it's processors ram and graphics cards but lately ive been listing certain mother boards and power supplies.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

I'm actually planning on growing. The reasons may sound odd, but here's my logic:

If a business can profit in scrap with today's markets, they'll be sitting pretty when the market improves. If you don't want to try to make money in lower markets, find a way to still use the time for your business. Take the time to work on your practices to improve efficiency, so when you come back, you can use the now good markets to really make hay while the sun is shining. Or in my case, upgrade facilities and make some equipment (What? Doesn't everyone build their own equipment?) Seriously? Okay 406, maybe it's just the two of us that have farmer ingenuity. But, that comes in handy:

Last month, I built a new-to-the-business trailer, and worked on upgrading hard drive testers so I can test for you guys faster. Next month, I'll probably start making a new building for the recycling side of my business

That's also my side hustle. Making hay. And driving a Kenworth. Why not? If I can make some extra money, I'm all for it. Sure, I do other stuff when the market is down. But, when it rebounds, I want to be ready to pounce

We are currently expanding too, now is the time to work on procedures and creating a standard operating procedure for when things pick up again. That way everyone will be up to speed and ready to tackle the busy times.

It has also given me time to make new contacts in the business, this will allow me fetch better prices for computer components in bulk, which in turn means I can pay more.

Im not doing anywhere as much scrapmetal as i was. But am still cleaning up what I have sitting around.

My Escrap piles probably over a Ton but its a 450 mile journey to get it to a buyer, who pays about 1/3rd of the US price for it. They have said that they will pay extra because the distance, but need photos to judge it.
I dont have a car thats viable for towing a trailer at the moment and petrols US$1.45/litre here.

I have bought several cars of the same model etc. I find they all have similar probems & I have learnt a lot in that time.
Considering the car, parts are fantastically cheap from overseas. What i pay $200 for here in NewZealand,, i pay $40 for on ebay inc postage from Europe.
I have figured out how to fix certain things that go wrong at certain times/milage. At garage rates of NZ$100/hr ( US$66 ) its not worth fixing them. But at my time $ it is.
A certain small part, Coolant Temperature Sensor, may be bad & cause near unrelated problems.
Garages cant waste time trying to figure it out @ $100/hr. You either specialise in them, or you dont work on them at all.
So between that & my house & looking for a well paying job, even minimum wage here is well paying considering my tiny overhead costs. Min wage is about NZ$17, soon in a year or 2 NZ$20/hr (US13.50)
    Im a qualified Machinist/Welder.

    Aluminiums at a standardly nice price of NZ$1,oo /Kg. NZ$1.50/Kg for 3xtrudion
Lightgsuge is $100/Ton. Probably $70 @ my yard
Coppers actually at a nice high price thats not been seen for a long time. NZ$7.oo / Kg

I took a shopping bag full of Copper in last week & got $41, that got me a $10 phone top up, car indicator bulb, food & coffee.
I'd redeemed a voucher for $5 last week at my car parts shop & got a indicator bulb then because its handy to have one, now two, if one blows ( I replace both bulbs when one blows ) @ $4.50 each.

There was some server power supplys laying about taking up space, so they got scrapped this week, not much $ wise but enough to fill the bottom of my scrap containers.

Apparently I moved into selling concrete cleaner and sealer. Ended up with almost $20k retail worth of this stuff from an auction lol. I'd be happy with 25%

Is it prostitution or something similar?

If so then yes, otherwise, probably not.

Ohh gawd ... i know this won't be popular ... but maybe honest ?

One of the definitions of prostitute:

a person who misuses their talents or who sacrifices their self-respect for the sake of personal or financial gain.

I don't care who you are or what you say, that's funny.

Pot calling the kettle black maybe (this isn't me or my truck) but..

I'm still picking up computers and phone systems so I have no complaints on prices. Finding more computer parts that can be sold to SMF buyers and I'm finding companies that refurbish business phones and systems. Thank you Google.
After a few recent pickups, I am replacing my computer with a newer one and now have dual 25" monitors.
My wife has a bigger monitor for her computer and is getting a newer printer because her old one died.

It's kinda sad. I think we all have to compromise ourselves to some degree or another on our regular day job. We're not all that different from the working gal on the street corner. Sometimes ... you gotta do what you gotta do to make that paycheck and pay the bills every month.

You can't eat your pride .... but you can swallow it ! ( She swallows her pride too. )

The question i always ask myself:

Would i be doing this job if i were independently wealthy ?

    The answer is always:

ROTFLMAO ... OH HELL NO !

I would give my two weeks notice in a heartbeat and go live life more on my own terms.
