With all due respect ... i just don't buy that. Never agreed with the idea that you should blame the victim and not the thief.
In my experience, seeking revenge is like drinking poison to kill your enemy. If you're gonna go all darkside .. use your noggin and do it in a way that it doesn't blow back at you.
It could get messy though. This is the second time in different places. There's a chance it's somebody close to you. Maybe a trusted friend or perhaps even someone in your own family. (Gawd forbid it's one of your kids.) A lot of times it's drug / alcohol related in some way. Maybe somebody with a grudge against you that's looking to even the score ? Anyone you know fit the profile ?
A lot of people have renter -or- homeowner insurance. You filed a police report. Maybe the insurance company could at least partially reimburse you for the loss of your property due to burglary ?
