Got my first hit on a cl ad: a washer, some aluminum sidings, and a metal loveseat frame. Also got paid 20$ for loading it which was unexpected, plus she said she has some ewaste for me and more steel this weekend :-)

Nice! That's the way to do it! Metal is at an all time low (at least in my area), I won't pick anything up unless it's for a friend or someone in need etc... without being compensated for the work.
I read so many people critical of CL, but it's where I started everything MY EMPIRE (sarcasm here - I am a part-timer) and built relationships with businesses and what have you for repeat customers etc... To me it made more sense than driving around wasting fuel in random alleys hoping someone set out a washer on nights and weekends.

Scrap metal prices are very low around me as well, I still go out sometimes to find motors copper and a little bit of steel just because it's not a lot of gas to get 10$ worth of steel
Congrats! Hope you get a good return and many more scores on craigslist. Craigslist is hit or miss with me but I've gotten some *great* scores from time to time there. Same with offerup, letgo and even facebook
