Old Guys, Help the Young Guys Out....

I was having a discussion with someone who identified themselves as "younger generation", I was talking about perspective. I was wondering the best piece of old guy advice you would pass on to a young guy.

Mine would be this... You hear people say that you should confront a person with a problem you have with them. I have found it is better to bite your tongue and just let it go to see if the problem works itself out on its' own without turning it into an issue where things get said that cannot be unsaid. It seems that most times the problem resolves itself without the need to escalate into a situation that could spoil a relationship going forward.

That is probably the best advice off the top of my head for you young guys.

I'm hard put to come up with any one best piece of advise for a younger hand. It's all situational.

I suppose if anything .... it would be to try and base your relationships on the qualities of honesty, acceptance, respect, and trust. This would be especially true with the women in your life.

Honesty: Hurt her with the truth but never ever hurt her with a lie. Most women find emotional honesty in a man to be a very admirable trait. They despise liars.

Acceptance: Accept that the woman is different than you. The may think and feel differently about things than you do. If you can't riddle it out ... simply accept that she is who she is and cherish her for the person that she is.

Respect: Always respect your woman. ( Anyone could spend a lifetime learning the art of respect.)

Trust: Never ever ever break the trust.

There you have it ... the acronym H.A.R.T.

I thunk that one up all on my own.

My best advice at 4:20am is never, ever use acronyms. Sorry Hills, you're a good person so just ignore me.

Your character and word are two things that can not be taken from you, you have to give them away.
Give back more to this world than we take.

Good one, Patriot, but I would tend to believe that throw them away more accurately describes someone who has lost those qualities.

< Gentle Laughter > No ... not really a good person Jim. I had to learn a lot of this stuff the hard way. I made my mistakes and took my lumps. I would hope that a young fulla coming up would have an easier time of it.

Acronyms ? Just wait till you get to be an old fart. The memory ain't as good as it used to be. You'll see.

Hills scratches his head. H .... now what the hell was that anyway .... ohh yeah ... now i remember !

    C.R.S. ? ayuh ! I know that one. Can't Remember $hit.
