Have probably 150+ desktops stacked there, have about 30 servers in another stack, and probably 50 laptops, a good number of which can be resold for a pretty good penny. Pretty happy with myself this week.... got about the same amount of pickups scheduled for next week... This thing is really starting to work out for me and for the first time feel like I might be able to do this full-time (after I retire from my day job in like 10 years lol)...
This all started when I made a post on the "nextdoor" app/website, stating I would come pick up any computers/servers/tablets/cell phones/electronics** with some disclaimers to make sure it was worth the trip, within 10 miles of my house.
Before I knew it I had 100+ requests and have been trying to work through and schedule them all. Some are businesses where Im getting 20+ at a time, some are just single homes with 1 computer. Ive been doing 5-6 pickups a day while "working from home" at my day job too, and have about as many scheduled for next week, and also about as many who said they are still getting stuff together and will reach out when they are ready.
I think Im finally settling into my niche, and going to focus less on normal scrap and focus entirely on computers/servers. I know enough about electronics and computers to repair and fix them and to know what is worth what, and selling a working i7 cpu laptop for $150 on
ebay after fixing it, beats hauling around 15 washers/dryers to get the same money. I still will take normal scrap when the situation arises, but I feel like I have had a revelation and am at a turning point in my scrapping journey, and just wanted to share. Feel free to tell me to eff off lol
