I have a few hammer saws that I have come across in my scrapping journeys that just sit in a pile with other random power tools I have found. What do you use a hammer saw for? I have a few hammer drills, which I think I know what they are used for (concrete/masonry drilling comes to mind).... But I can't think of a situation that would call for a hammer SAW?! Is it like... It is just a reciprocating saw. I just like to put "hammer" in front of any tool I really like to use. It makes it sound cooler.... The hammer beer bottle opener is one of my very favorites! It's getting a little late now and I have to get the hammer remote to turn the tv off now. Good night.

So i want to get the job done (or at least make some progress). I take a look around at the sales today, and nothin'! Not a froggin' thing. I get home and do a search on craigslist and marketplace, and a few things, but they want to send it, or I have to drive an hour and a half to get a look. I finally decide I'm going down to HD... (Hunert Dollars... You can never get out of there for under a hunert dollars) to buy a new hammersaw.
I'm just about to head out and I remember I have some blue cards from the blue store.... I never go there so they never get used. The money on them was from new items in the package I picked up at garage sales and returned... For "my" customer.... You know, the customer at the garage sale. I had no idea what was on them, but I figured it was a discount off something I needed to buy....
So, there I am in blue, and there is the $120 12 amp Dewalt with a reduced sticker... $106. I ask the blue guy where the case was and he told me there wasn't one... CRAP! I ask if they can do better, "well, okay. How about $96?". Unhook that bad boy and let's get hammersawing! It gets rung up and I toss the one credit down.... down to $60.. Ding ding. Toss the second, and the gal says, "you still owe $1.57."
Now I get it home, with no case, and I regret not buying the cheaper one because that would have dropped right into the old case... Sigh. I cut the bead on the tire I was working on and it occurs I should check to see if it would fit in the case... It could, with a couple modification. Soooooo....

Then I got no idea what my other pile of saws are lol. I didn't think hammer saws were something that existed.....
Edit: after googling types of saws I think the other ones I have are "multi saws" ... Which I actually have used before for trim work.
Either way,. Nice new saw

No. I am returning an item to the store. It was not stolen from the store and I am returning as a favor to the person I got it from. I give him some for the item and he lets me keep the balance for returning the item and they are saved the trouble of going back into the store (which I visit and buy from regularly). You can try to make it more sinister than that, but they are just getting merchandise returned that they will put back on the shelf and resell to someone else who will use it. It is not illegal, immoral, and no one is injured.

It might violate a stores "return policy" but it likely is not illegal or immoral. Interesting story about "return" policies and how dumb they can be. Bought a video game from gamestop once, wanted to return the game for one reason or another.... they said it had already been opened so it could not be returned, only exchanged for another copy of the same game in the event that there was something wrong with the one I got, or traded in (for like half what I paid like 2 days ago). So I said ok let me exchange this one in for another of the same game, they did the exchange and now I had an unopened copy of the game. I then said, ok.... I'd like to return this game, it is unopened, and they did the return.... return policies are usually dumb corporate nonsense.... I think you are fine

What makes you think we arent very busy?
Private businesses can choose to accept any return they want for any reason. The burden is on them to decide what requirements they need to accept a return.
Some businesses require an item to be unopened and returned within 7 days with original receipt, some stores will allow you to return any item they sell at anytime, no questions asked.
Why do you think that the government has any right to tell private businesses how they should operate and what returns to accept? Let alone to make or enforce laws around it.
You may not approve how some people do business, and that is fine, you are not obligated to use them. Luckily, in America people can choose how and with who they choose to do business with (for the most part).
You may choose not to do business with someone who returns items to stores, and others may choose not to do business with someone who is hot-tempered and quick to judgement and insults. And both are well within their rights to do so.

That Gamestop story sounds about right. I had a trade show booth a couple years ago where a guy wanted to sell me an old, piece of junk computer (Some old generic Pentium 4 fodder). I had no interest in the thing, so I offered free recycling. He went on the usual rant about how we're making a killing on the gold. So, I figured- whatever. That's not much of a loss. The guy came back later with some junk "TV boards" and dumped them at my booth, still thinking he can sell this worthless Pentium 4. Well, the "TV boards" were actually old motherboards, which I was able to actually sell and make a killing on. As for that Pentium 4, at the end of the show, he had no takers, so he left that at the booth too.

That isn't a law. That is a store policy. A store can't call the cops on you for trying to return something not in accordance with their policy.
If anyone can make a policy and call the cops on someone for violating it, then I'm Gunna make a policy that every post you make you need to give me $1. That is my policy. If you don't follow it I'll call the cops .....
See how crazy that sounds? There is no crime here. Now if someone STOLE merchandise and tried to return it to a store, that is theft and they can call the cops. Additionally, I bet a lawyer could try to make a case if you did it at scale somehow, that mass returning of items is fraud if you are untrue about how you got them. However if you go up and say I would like to return this item, and they do it, you have not lied, or broken an laws. If they say "are you the oringal purchaser and bought it within the last 30 days?" And you LIE about both those to complete the return, a case could be made for fraud or theft by decite.... But.... Just returning the item, in and of it self is no criminal act
