I don't know if it is just me, but your server is slow to respond. I did a tracert as well and it is also lagging somewhere, not just the delay to cross the big pond. I would watch that is just an isolated case, not a recurrent issue. I am also a big fan of simple web design, but you should use a minimalist Wordpress theme. To be honest, the way it looks currently gives us the feel of a RSS feed. Maybe just adding some colours or a header picture can help it and invite us to read your contents.
