I've bailed a few times due to being slammed at work for extended periods of time, but this last time was due to the forum being down and not properly maintained.

The forum has faced three strikes over the last two years. Maintenance of the site thrown as a curve ball caught many off guard. The second strike was a fast ball that saw several key members meet their maker. The third strike was the fall in the price of scrap. The third strike was eventually called a check swing because of Russian and China interference and as such we might have a rebound in prices. Therefore we might have a rally for interest in the forum.

I know, but someone somewhere in the world must be paying the bills (hosting, domain name...). That person is not very active on the site itself, but domain name was last renewed in September 2021 for one year. At least, if he was delegating someone as an editor/moderator (to remove/block spam and check maintenance, among others), it would help for sure.

I must have missed a couple things. Who passed in the last 2 years?

Market has always fluctuated. I remember the '80s and 90's when shred and steel were paid 1 cent per pound. The Market was so bad that they closed mines and mining towns at that time. I also remember when many newcomers added competition in the late 90s before most of them disappeared later. There was always an e-waste boom, the Chinese change of rules, the copper price pike and crash, etc. Copper prices have now returned higher than before the 1996 crash. It is a cyclic industry.
