What do ya'll get for wire clippings at your yard?

    Hey there,

    Hope everyone is well.

Anyways, I'm just curious what do you all get for wire clippings at your yard that you have saved up? You know the plastic bits that are usually on the ends of copper wire that's pulled from washing machines and such.....do your yards give a separate price/category for it? Or is it categorized as something else? I'd gladly like to know. Also you can consider plastic parts with brass ends as well...

    Again...hope everyone is well.

    Take it easy.

You mean the flat male/female connectors as in the picture below? I remove (cut) the plastic covers and cut as much copper I can and then I generally put them (if non-magnetic) in mixed stainless steel. If the ones I got were yellow, they would go in brass. Otherwise, the yards will probably take them as shred (or maybe breakage or stainless turnings, if lucky)

NEW TO SCRAPPING? READ THIS: Build up your horde of magnetic and non-magnetic metals in two piles until you have a better understanding of the business. Magnetic material has low value and is mostly always steel / shred / short iron. Read old threads about non-magnetic metals and ewaste (and how to sort them), but don't forget that they generally have absolutely no tolerance for contamination (screw / iron / foreign material).

I cut ends off cords in order to get a better price. The brass prongs i remove from plug ends and put with my brass. The female ends and the ends I have remobvremoved the brass frome go in with the shred. The ends in the pic above i just add with the shred as well.
    Better than the dump!

I don't get a whole lot and very rarely clip them from the wire I get but when I do I just toss them in with my breakage. .22-.34 depending on whether I haul to a shredder or or sell closer.

I only save the clean ones. the ones with the plastic on them in the pic Copperminer posted, i just cut the wire from them and leave them on whatever they are attached to. They dont weigh anything anyways. Whats the saying? tripping over dollars to pick up pennys?

The only "ends" I get are the ones from romex that has been too twisted up to run through the stripper. Those go in with number 1 wire.
