    ahhh..foreclosers

unfortunatly for my parents neighbors, their house got foreclosed last week. knowing that i scrap...they gave me permission to take a look around the day after they vacated the property. me and my buddy spent all day cutting up a rusted out 83 mustang, busting windows out of about 150 lbs of aluminum window frames and sliding glass door frames, stripping about 200ft of Romex, collected 800lbs of misc. metal around the yard, and to top it off found an old bent up bed frame behind the garage...made up of about 45 lbs word of brass! not a bad haul for the day.

Sounds like the people gave you permission to vandalize the banks property.

Sounds to me like grand theft among other charges!

My heart truly bleeds for the bankers' loss. Poor guys, just a bunch of hard working folk trying to scratch out a living.

That being said, if I was going to post about it on the internet; I think I might make a pseudonym. Something like Angelo Mozilo or Lloyd Blankfein.

The way I read the post, I assumed all the scrap came from around the house, not that it was part of the house. I mean, if all that other stuff was in the yard, it's not too far fetched to think that there was a bunch of old windows and wire there too. I guess I could be wrong. Yeah, if the wire and aluminum came out of the structure itself, that ain't right, but my feeling is that the house is intact. I'm sure Derek can clarify the issue for us.

I got the same idea ditchdigger, at first glance of the title I was like huh? But once I read the post, I don't believe he destroyed the property. I would say he did the bank a favor by cleanin up around the property. Most foreclosures are sold as is, around here anyway. The bank will not invest more time or money to clean a property.

Man be carefull what you post here. what you do is none of my business, but every thing we all do is the governments business as they see it these days.

( a note to the feds. this is a joke, lighten up)

i appreciate that, olddude. it was a tease though. its been many years since ive had problems with the law. i went legit some time ago, and its quite refreshing for me to not have to look over my shoulder. cleaning out a forclosed house property on the other hand, thats another story! but again, thanks for the pointer. i think i'll be alright. i read more than i post, and i am given more scrap than i find on my own.

the widows were leaning against the side of the garage and the and the romex was left over from a remodel. you guys must run into a lot of schmucks in the scrapping business! i actually use to work for a company that maintained for clothes houses. after cleaning up after discruntled former tenants and vandals for 2 years... i could'nt dream of destroying a house for a few extra bucks. im actually going back this weekend for cut the grass so it does not get too out of control. the bank does not take charge of the property till the 7th so no trespassing was commited.

Thanks for coming back and confirming. We have had so many people that have come in here and basically bragged about breaking the law. We always "run 'em out of town", because it gives us all a bad name.

Perhaps you should reread the post... The bank takes possession on the 7th.

Well I'm sure you are right here! The free scrap from foreclosed home, windows just laying about, copper wire just laying in a pile awaiting a fine scrapper to come by, .... oh and the date!

Sorry, I just have this Obsessive/Compulsive disorder that compels me to correct people when they spew information regarding subjects where they are woefully uneducated. The compulsion becomes exponentially irresistible when they punctuate their incorrect information with statements like "This is a fact not an opinion!"

That being said, I'm not defending anyone. I don't know the author of the original post from Adam. I'm simply stating that if the facts are indeed as they were described, then no crime has been committed.

Nice find, wish it was under different circumstances however. I know many people who are in danger of being foreclosed on as well.

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
