    Unhappy Ahhhh, what a disappointment

I was sitting there reading something this morning that said scrap metal demand was down. I got to thinking, it's hot and I don't feel like unloading the truck, then loading with scrap. But, I sure don't care to get caught with all this stuff if prices should fall a bit. So, I decided to load the Ranger up instead, with as much of my non-ferrous stuff as I could get in there. I still spent a couple hours on it, but I figured it would be a pretty good payday. A big chunk would come from the copper/aluminum reefers.

I called ahead and got prices. They seemed a little low on a couple things. But you can go in and get out of the place pretty fast. I get there and the guy quickly tells me they couldn't take the reefer coils from the outside unit, but could take the ones from the window units. Orange county rule. It has to have paperwork for them to take it. I sure wish they had mentioned this on the phone when I called Of course what he called window unit reefer coils were from the inside air handlers from the same houses that the outside coils were from. I wasn't going to mention it, I didn't want to haul any more stuff back home

On top of that, they would not take the 2" brass backflow preventer either. That's a chunk of brass. If they would have taken this stuff, I would have been well over 600 bucks in the back of a Ranger. And it wasn't even that packed. Instead I left with a bit under $400.

I wonder why they wouldn't take the backflow valve. Very interesting.

I have 300 pounds of clean copper fin but im within 100 miles of 4 different states so there shouldnt be a problem selling it, usually they take them and make you sign a sheet saying what it is and how much you sold, somtimes they want to make a copy of your drivers license which is fine with me. I would rather sell to a yard that keeps good records vs one that does not. You could try another county or worst case another state to find a yard that will buy them.
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com
I AM ACTIVELY BUYING ESCRAP OF ALL TYPES. BOARDS, RAM, CPUS AND MUCH MORE

Beleave it or not this floridas way of trying to catch thieves. Anything like AC coils, large brass valves, #1/bare brite copper wire and things like this you have to have proof of ownership, paper from the person you got the stuff from saying that you got it from them. This is a state law that went into afect in July and if you live 500 miles from another state it make it hard to get around this law.

The way i look at it is if a state is gonna be that bad about it im just gonna take my business elseware, just cut the fin into smaller pieces and box it up and ship it to a buyer. Or wait till you have enough to make the trip worth it. Its getting to the point where you are gonna have to do a fingerprint scan when you sell scrap or have to have a license/permit to sell it. So many people have ruined it for the rest of us. I keep records of everything i buy and sell for that very reason of when the changes come i will be prepared.
