Think I got Cheated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took one of my largest loads in this week! The yard I go to pays by check if it's over the $500.00 amount. I wanted cash, but was concerned I might be getting a check instead.
Long story short ( only 1680 pounds = $187.00 ) WTH?????????? I take half loads in every 3 to 4 days that pay me more than this. I had a 16' trailer full of: 3 refridges ( packed with scrap metal), 2 washers, 1 commercial frezzer weighing 480 pounds alone, 2 solid iron BBQ smokers, 2 dishwashers , 4 solid steel rack& shelve beams,1 stove, 1 dryer and misc..........metal.
I trust this yard and have never had to question them before! As I was walking out of their office another patron was being handed his sales ticket. I don't speak spanish, but I understood from his vocals something wasn't right with his pay?
After the paron left the office I asked the lady working the scales if something was wrong. She said the customer thought she had cheating him. I responded with " Mam, I don't think you cheated me, but this was one of my largest loads , this weight just doesn't seem right to me. She got very defensive and told me I could file a complaint. Needless to say I just walked out and went home.
I took another load there yesterday. Only 3 refridges = $82.00. When I was cashing in I asked her if anyone else had a complaint the other day when I was there. She said no! I asked her if the scales had every been wrong before. She said only once since she had been working there, and it was because something got stuck in the scale. She also informed me that their scale had just been inspected a few days before i had came in.
What should I have done if anything? Thanks...........

You should have protested your weight that day and asked to see a manager.

My truck empty weighs 6000 lb plus or minus a couple pounds depending on how much fuel I have, my trailer weighs 1500 lbs empty.

These weights are consistent no matter who's scale I'm on, write your empty weighs on the backside of your visor.

The truck and trailer weights are minus driver as I'm always sanding beside the scale operator if there is no outside number device giving weights, I record a copy of my weights to compare notes when it's time to be paid. Keeps the yard honest

If the guy thinks he's been cheated, not knowing his equipment empty weights and that from the loaded weight crossing the yards scale.

There is no argument, he was present a should have recorded the facts before crying wolf.

In my earlier post I have clearly stated how to avoid conflicts with your yard over scale weights.

Thanks for the advice Gustavus. I said " Think was cheated ". But your right when it comes down to it. It's my fault for being lazy and not being 100% prepared before selling. I will learn from my own mistake this time!

Welcome Tex we've all run across yards that cheat on weight. Here's one for you, if your yard is using a digital platform scale inside to weigh up copper and brass ask them in how may lb or kg increments it's set for.

For fun keep a 1 lb certified weight in your truck that you can weigh on their scale to verify the accuracy of the yard scale. You may find that their scale is measuring to the nearest 2 lbs. on the lower end of the scale. In their favor.

Always be sure that he scale has been tared in before weighing your lot of goods. Keep a close eye on what has and has not already been on the scale, look over the scale mans shoulder when he is writing down your weights.
