    Is it sad?

There was a wreck across the street from me last night. Two guys in a Mercury Mountaineer ran into the back of a tractor (one with 5' tires...). The guys went to the hospital but had no external bleeding. The Mountaineer was totaled. They had to have been going FAST. The clutch on the tractor was locked up, so it was in gear. The Mountaineer pushed it about 30' onto the road. After the ambulances left with the guys and we were standing there waiting for the tow truck, it kept running through my head "wonder if I could chop it up before the tow truck gets here". The tractor might be toast, too. It did a lot of damage to the PTO area. Also, it looks like it tweaked the frame. The top popped off and the doors wont shut. All that steel...

Lol,no. It's a mindset that we have as scrappers, its natural. Sure, we feel bad for the ppl involved but then our brains naturally go to thoughts of ''Wonder if I can get that.'' Just like the police and ambulance folks first thoughts are of ''Hope we can save these ppl'' because that is the mindset of their job.

LOL, after I found out he was ok, I would have been thinking "what a shame. But if it's a V8, that Mountaineer either has GT40 or GT40p cylinder heads and good intake on it. I wonder if they are ok? I wonder if I should call the guy?"

Judging by the size of the engine compartment after the wreck, I don't think it was possible that it had a V8. Otherwise it would've been in the front seats. It was kind of cool to see the different crumple zones, though.
