Making (small)Profit from a messy scrapper

yesterday I got to the yard late in the day with a small load of steel, that was taking up space.
I backed up to the scale ready to drop-off and noticed a load still on there.
I jumped out to check what it was, there on the scale was a truck engine and a big puddle of oil! the yard owner came out apologising saying a regular customer had told him the engine was drained! he checked out the load i had in the back and we started guessing how much was there, we got up to 60kg, which i reckon was a bit over, i was cool with that dropped it all off on his steel pile, he came out and gave me the cash, which was a couple of dollars over for my troubles.

has anybody else had this happen?

Yes, some times I will get more than the normal amount for some of my non ferrous. Depending on who is working. I am friends with most. One of the biggest issues at my yard, is people get sticky fingers after a while.

Sort of. Once they forgot to weigh my truck as I entered, and when I left they did weigh it, but were confused why I didn't have a weigh in weight. It was a small load, 350ish lbs, and they knew me well enough to know that I've been there dozens of times, so it wasn't my first time. They paid me for 500 lbs for the trouble.
