Most do I think. We will see how much they like me at xmas time I love it when the kids come out with ziplock bags of cookies for me. Im the type of mailman that will put your dog back in your yard if it gets out instead of calling the catcher. As long as your dog isnt the type to want to eat me that is. Ive been on the same route for 3 years now so I know most of the people on my route pretty well.

Just be careful, PartTimeScrapper. I carried mail for eight years in Omaha, Ne and a year in St Joe, Mo in the 80s. I was the kind who'd cut mail to the whole loop if a dog was loose. But I never got bit, either (on the route). Had a Doberman come through a screen door one time. Emptied three cans of dog spray on him.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Like police dogs, he/she must have been trained to not let it really effect them, as most criminals are not going to be carrying 3 cans lol. Not calling you a criminal of course.

If I dont personaly know the dog I dont even try Mick. Its not worth being bit over. If a dog does come at me though i dont even bother with the spray. I shove my size 14 foot right in the chops. Ive had to do this twice. I personaly think the shoe works way better then spray. Specialy when there is 220 pounds of me behind that kick. I once punted an ankle bighter a good 15 feet with the owner mowig there front yard right in front of me. The funny part was the owner was like nice kick the dog deserved it for charging you. This was on another persons route I was carrying a split on but still was funny I thaught.
