Funniest thing I ever saw at the scrap yard was a guy hauling a trailer load of scrap with no tire on one side of the trailer. Just a rim. I thought he was bring the trailer to scrap it. Nope just get it unloaded and off he went. The yard was POed they just had the entrance and exit to the scale paved the day before. Now they had a huge line from one end to the other from the rim on his trailer. I almost fell over laughing when I saw it I kept hearing a scraping sound and couldn't figure out where it was coming from till I saw the trailer being pulled by this jalopy of a truck. I wish I would have snapped a pic of it.

if the motor was rebuild-able it would of been worth far more than scrap...old large diesel motors are wanted by alot of people and this looks to be a OLD Diesel

Probably was salvageable.. Even the injection pump was on it.. broke it with the grapple lifting it off.. It is so much easier to scrap them than it is to find someone around here willing to pay anything for it.

When it comes to something that big you can put the ball in their court and if they want it bad enough they will arrange shipping.

I have found forward air ships large pallets of anything at a low cost in the past. Available at your nearest airport.

Torker this is what inspired my latest invention, The Poop Scoop Boogie walking stick. Got the idea after laughing at all the people toting around little baggies of dog crap. Working on patent.

    I hate that mentality.

Scrapping shred is one thing, but whole salvageable items? You won't get anywhere near the price and all you have to do is sit on it for 3 weeks. If it doesn't sell by then, fine. But to short change yourself so much, because you want the $50 NOW, it's almost a crime.

I agree it's a bad mentality to just scrap everything and anything without a second thought but I don't think it's always so clear cut. Each person has to decide how to best allocate their resources to maximize their return. In some cases this might mean hanging on to an item and trying to locate a buyer, for others it might be just to scrap the item and spend the time aquiring more scrap. Storage space isn't free either.

And to meet you at the office so he's not in the truck at weigh in...that should put an extra $10 in PTS pocket with the horse he has.
