Looks Like Things Are Looking Up!

So yesterday we hauled in 3700lbs. of sheet metal. Great way to start off a Monday. But then I look around and see our inventory is getting kinda low. So I figured just for the heck of I'd go run the ol trash route tonight. Haven't done that in a while.
I really didn't want to cause I was pretty dang tired and Jr. couldn't come with me tonight. He's taking his G.E.D. test tomorrow so he getting a good nights rest. But I had to do something so off I went.
After 4 hrs. I had truck full! Just a sampling: 3 Dell monitors, 1 computer, 1 huge microwave, 1 file cabinet, 2 vacs., 2 rims, 1 weed eater, 5 al. chairs, several bed frames, and bunches n bunches of mixed metals. Shoot I can't even remember all of it right now. But it was piled so high that I was driving home at 5 mph. Thank goodness it was 1:30 in the morning!
I don't know where the competition is, but they sure weren't out there tonight. Made for real easy pickins. Looks like this is gonna be a pretty good week!

Nice haul and tell Jr good luck. On those tests you can usually eliminate at least 2 of the answers just by using common sense.

Thanks fellas. Jr said he feels real good about the test today. He's gotta go back tomorrow and take part 2. Then we'll get the results in appx. 3 weeks. He gets the G.E.D. then we gonna look into some vo-tech schools for him. Right now he's thinking welding, but not 100% sure that's way he wants to go. As long as he gets his education and picks up a good trade Ima be a happy pappy! I'll keep you guys updated on his progress as soon as we here.

Welding takes practice, but is very easy. Look up a guy by the name Scott Linden, I learned a lot by reading his stuff. 100kwelder.com

I found patrolling twice a day in my 40 mile area effective way to get ahead of the rest of the scrappers. you can take a walk in my area now and withing 15 minutes 2 scrap trucks have circled by you. Everyone's on hard times around here and it really shows.doesn't hurt im the only one that gets into the dumpsters in my areas though. ive been finding good small stuff at the bottom that lazy people miss.

Like someone else just mentioned, wear some good heavy leather gloves to minimize the risk of getting poked by someone's hypodermic needle.

Yeah, I like those long barbeque tongs for rooting around in a dumpster too.

yeah leather pants and gloves and some nice red wings are a must. i gave up on using tongs or hooks, all the brass from broken piping from the complexes are tiny and numerous. And by patrolling those dumpsters as they fill i dont got to worry about past ankle deep bags. either way appreciate the advice.
