    found some sterling today

Bought 15 pounds of silver plated scrap from a scrap yard today. Got it home and was sorting through and found 2 pieces of sterling. just a hair over 1.5 troy ounces. Not a bad bonus. Suppose to go back next week and buy a gaylord of mother boards so could turn into a regular situation.

Why are you buying silver plate.

There is no easy cheap economical way to recover the silver. Besides spoons and forks that have seen regular use most of the silver is worn thin.

i paid 2 dollars per pound for the lot

i buy silver plated flatware to resell as is for approx 3.00 per pound. I dont even attempt to refine. Some of the better condition pieces get sold to a small business that puts together sets.
