    Opportunities are everywhere

So i work for a financial institution. i sit in a cube and push papers and crunch numbers and stuff... all very monotonous

this morning the woman on the trading desk directly behind me is complaining of the smell. some say it smells like markers, some think its the plant food in her flower vase. i know better

"smells like ozone and melting plastic, probably a blown circuit in your computer or monitor."

i go outside for a smoke, and when i get back, my IT guy is replacing the power supply to her computer. the old one is just sitting on the ground 2 feet from my desk and i ask him if he wants it, knowing full well it was broken. i love it when scrap literally falls in my lap. its not much, but there's room for a couple more in the bucket full i have at home.

I hope you hinted to the IT guy that you would like any and all other scrap he comes up with.

    I am sure you did.

i told him that months ago, he comes to me with stuff once in a while... but it was funny to take it almost out of his hands as he was removing it from a working computer

everybody knows the deal with me. the maintenence director of the building we rent tells me when stuff is in the dumpsters, the UPS delivery driver tells me when stuff is in other dumpsters i wouldnt normally drive around to see, and even executives at the company have given me electronics and appliances out of their cars because they know the deal. im not shy about junk collecting. they see me dumpster dive in khakis and brooks brothers button up. they know i mean business
