    1000 lb #1 & 2 insulated copper per mo. ?

Ive touched on this once before. A while back, while doing my phone contacts, I came across a co. that averaged 1000 lb of scrap copper wire per mo. at that time I bid $1.25 on the wire, only to be hi balled by the local yard. Of course when the customer took the wire to that yard he realised what I said to him about beeing hi balled was true. now that prices are down he now thinks the yaqrd is realy low balling him. He called me yesterday with another trailer load of wire, about 1200 lbs. He is a comercial electrician so most of the wire is romex.

I dont have the money to buy it in one load, it is so **** frustrating. Is there any one out there close to me who wants to split this deal ?

thx MDG that will be one of my offers when I meet with him, I am going to do my best to secure this account, it is a corner stone to the foundation I need to move forward. but I have had the first dealing with this persdon a month ago on the last load, he has no or, at least little intrest in listening to logic, or weather I move forward or not, even though it would create a regular buyer for him with honest pricing. typical business operation of today, cant see past the pennies today to get to the dollars tomarrow, just like the people you see lined up at the yard with copper alu, Iron and every thing else selling it for mixed shred.

    thanks for the form letter.

Or you could work with a real good wire processor. A corporation that could buy it. Someone from here perhaps?

No Romex is home wiring. 2 conductors and a ground all in one flat wire.

Most of the romex I find is 14-2g... But I had some 12-3G recently too. No casing

Maybe try a Friday check for half the load and a post dated check for the other half ( say Tuesday??), bust ass all weekend and get the cash in the account. It worked for me once on a large buy...good luck!!

You just have to get the first deal through, and then you get a "steady eddie". Customer service does make a difference and that is the ace in the hole a small operator has over a yard. I open for customers any day any time, just call and I will accommodate them. For sellers that drive a long haul, a 1-2 hour yard wait is no fun ( a busy yard is stressful to boot). I have even paid for meals and motel rooms. It brings them back!! and I really do appreciate the business. Keep talking to them, that is the key to creating new relationships..even if this deal does not fly this time, keep up the contact.

firstr let me apologise to those offerig help. my PM box is screwed up, cant figgure out how to get to the archives to get phone # to return calls.

here is the plan: I am going to go meet with the customer monday or tuesday. I want to look at the load and be assured as to what it is exactly, I cant withstand any screw ups here. I want to make sure Im not buying 800 lbs of #2 covered by 200 # of #1. I will then negotiate the deal and get it on paper, which will include a time frame, payment etc. I do not want to get any one of my friends here involved in a remotely flakey deal. at that point I will post exactly what I need to put the deal together, and we can talk seariously at that point. thank you all for your offers of help.
