    petroleum encased wire

Any body know what type of wire i Have ?
Description: thick as a coax even a little thicker
has 3 fine copper wires inside
encased in oily like petroleum base pasty film due to this unique construction i can pull out the copper wire that still have a casing
sort of like a tube in a tube to finally have 3 wires I need to wear gloves for this wire.

Funny you mentioned this, just came across it myself in the guts of an old closet sized computer, I was wondering if it was a coating to prevent deterioration or a "bleeding" due to age??

uh, think I would stop and find out what that is, there was some very nasty stuff used in electronics back in the day.. asbestoses, PCBS, and mercury just to mention some of the least harmfull ones.

from what I have read handling any plastics and oils is not the best thing to expose yourself to in the long run... neither is exposing yourself to poverty ( low quality food, high stress environments, etc.etc.etc.). Pcbe's in car plastics are really nasty, it is industrial waste masquerading as fire retardant (Federal law requires its inclusion), it never stops outgassing and leads to male sterility according to some research ( odd, the rich poisoning themselves with new cars). I use gloves to handle everything!!

I think it is a communication type ,that oily stuff could be a PCB , It's not like I found like just 5 ft of it .I found a whole spool 1/2 full . For sure i am not looking to go sterile I always knew about PCB Ballasts and think this wire could also have that , But PCB in plastic ?? then we are all doomed
