Rubbish night turned into unexpected dumpster dive

Cruising around last night I came up on a dumpster in the street. Usually I look into the tops of the dumpsters in case theres any wire or goodies. Well, the whole top of the container was covered with plastic except one side. I started looking around the one side so as not to disturb the covering.

Within 15 seconds some older woman bursts out of the front door saying, "Excuse me, how can I help you, are you looking for something?". Ohh great I thought....I responded, "I apologize if I startled you ma'am, I'm just looking to recycle metal." Then she responded with.."I don't think your....going to find any metal....on that side of the dumpster." Then she proceeded to come down off the porch and head towards the dumpster. "Here, lets open the door to the dumpster and I'll show you where all the appliances are." Then she asked, "Hey, I have an ironing station would you be interested in it?".

So here I am, climbing through the container with this woman pulling out all the metal. And I thought I was gonna get the cops called on me. It made my night! Hands down, the coolest thing to happen to me since I started scrapping. Just thought I'd spread the positivity to the forum.

Mostly small appliances, some siding, an old sewing station, an old ironing station, siding, etc...pretty good for one stop, even if I got nothing the expierience made it worth it.

But I like it when people treat ya decent to, it "almost" restored some of my faith in humanity..lol

I had a similar thing happen yesterday, I'd went into the shop that owned the dumpster & asked about it.
He gave me a 'OK' & his business card to flash if anyone asks me.

I then introduced myself & flashed the card to the people who own the closest house over looking the dumpster.
They were happy & said "They'd chase away anyone else seen there".

I ended up with part of a security system, two monitors & a still working photocopying machine (Gold gold gold!)
& some steel mains wiring boxes with brass connections in them.
