almost forgot this one. I posted it about 3 months ago when it happned.
was breaking down several A/C compressors when my hands got oiley I just wiped them on my pant near my lap. While I as cutting with the grinder the sparks caught my pants on fire near my pocket area some lightning moves that would make the Flash proud saved big bob and the twins from damage but I learned a very valuable lesson.

While hanging over the side of a large, industrial sized dumpster today fishing out wire with my gardening hoe, I heard a cracking sound in my chest. I think I might have a hairline fracture of one of my ribs. It kind of hurts. Generally, I ache all over from lifting and tugging stuff but my sis asked me today if I'm losing weight - so that part's good.
Haven't had a bad skin break yet, but I'm pretty accident prone. My tetanus shot is up to date - seriously, it is important to keep yours up to date- tetanus is real and really something you don't want. I paid $75.00 for my booster at one of those travel clinics where you can get all sorts of immunizations, but some of the local health departments might offer them.
I was glad I had on eye protection today, probably saved me a trip to the ER.

Been at it for 40 years, both shoulders hurt all the time, left knee going, lots and lots of cuts (first aid right away, peroxide and alcohol). I do not recommend steel toed boots: a very heavy object will slice off your toes...tough fix, smashed toes have a better chance of healing. twisted my ankle many times ( some scary sounds). Amazingly my back is fine ( I am 6'6" 250 lbs), but I never,never lift anything without a straight back and bent knees,always face the object squarely. I am developing some annoying tinnitus. Always wear heavy HF gloves (1$ on sale get 30 to 40 at a time), safely shield, safety glasses. And mostly importantly I always work sober. Most of have no insurance so be very aware and careful!!

Only thing I can offer today is......When my back and legs get to hurting, I mix 1 cup of warm water and 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar w/mothers and drink it. Also, it does wonders for sinus infections and chest colds.

I was cutting up a trailer frame with my sawsall once. Was a hot day, index was like 110 degrees. Made two cuts an started to smell burning rubber. Figured I would give my sawsall a rest an get a drink. Turned to talk to my friend and the blade happened to touch my arm. Never felt a thing, just heard the skin sizzle. Made a weird scar...
Same friend was helpin me a different day. Moron was wearin tennis shoes and stepped on two nails at the same time. Went at least an inch in. Ended up gettin a shot in the ass lol
Not scrap related. Was using a circular saw, I didn't know it at the time, but the spring that retracts the guard had come undone. Finish my cut and go to set the saw down and the blade caught my jeans and made a cut in my thigh. Might have been worse had it not grabbed the set of keys in my pocket and jammed the blade.

Not scrap related but a good time none the less...over 20 years ago framing 2nd floor walls on a house I slammed a 3'' nail all the way into one of my knees with a nail gun. Doc tried all his fancy tools to try and pull it out, finally they called down to maintenance for some vise grips.

Ouch KZBell, you're making me cringe. Just remembered another one. Didn't happen to me though.
Older brother hopped out of dad's work truck. For whatever reason there was a screw lodged just right in the shoe so when he hopped out it went right into his foot.
He had to unscrew it to get it out. That makes me cringe too.

Lots and lots of bruises and cuts and scrapes. Have had both a dishwasher and stationary bike fall on me as I was loading them onto the back of the truck, but thankfully nothing major. My gloves have definitely saved my hands more than once, and as some others have mentioned also, I always wear jeans and long sleeves no matter how hot it is outside.

well....yesterday I broke my big toe. Using a pallet jack and moving some computers from a building and the server on the top of the pallet slide off and hit my toe dead on...its broken real good...and it hurts like a hell...
I have to show you a photo from that load...that one was fun.

oh dang. the other night i tried to lift a big compressor by myself because my help was just taking too long to come out. made it on the vehicle with only a couple inches stopping the door from closing. the last inches it fell over and crushed my hand. hurts and cant move it and it also ripped all the meat from pinky tip/no more finger print.
