As many of you know, Aluminum day in day out has a stable price compared to other metals, In fact years ago there were some points were Copper wile still of higher value was not blowing the doors off the value of AL. Copper is $3.57 open market, My yard bought #2 for $2.53 today .I find they usually are $1 less then open market. Last winter or at least before recent spring Copper was above $4.50 and the yards were paying a tad more then $3.50
I see now that Brass has a similar strength as AL . As during the last heyday of copper - Brass was $1.70 per lb as of today I can still sell brass for $1.50 per lb , that’s only .20 less compared to the $1.00 copper downward slide from last year . Since brass is an alloy with copper I am wondering why it is more stable in price.
I think it’s because they recycle it as brass and it must be more popular in use (higher demand) any other thoughts ?
